About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) is a co-curricular student organization where members explore the education field. There are many opportunities for members to serve the community, work with kids, become part of a family, and meet new people. We meet monthly, host many activities, and offer the opportunity to compete in over 30 local, state, and national events. Students who work hard and earn 100 hours will be eligible for a letter jacket. There is also an opportunity for an honor cord.
"The Hope for Tomorrow." The mission of TAFE is to encourage students to learn about careers in education and assist them in exploring the teaching profession while promoting character, service, and leadership skills necessary for becoming effective educators.

Our Story
TAFE is a state-wide organization that was founded in 1984 so that students all over Texas would have the opportunity:
To learn about the teaching profession, its opportunities, responsibilities, and its essential role in our democracy.
To explore their interests and abilities in the various fields of teaching. To cultivate the qualities of character, service, and leadership, which are essential in good teachers. To learn how and where teachers receive their training, the cost, scholarships available, number of years required, certification requirements, and standards.
To study the lives and influence of great teachers.
We are affiliated with EducatorsRising, the national community-based movement from PDK International, in which chapters at schools feed teacher preparation programs at institutes of higher education with the support of State Departments of Education and local funders and foundations. These entities provide a clear pathway to increase teacher diversity and quality.
